Pawzy
Pooh was the first cat that we brought into our household, in November of 2004,
that already contained 3 dogs. They were very accepting of her from the start. She was an early Christmas present for my daughter. When I first saw her at the shelter I knew
she was the one for my daughter and our family. She was so excited to get Pawzy......it was a
surprise!
She has 7 toes on each front paw and 5 on each back paw. That is A LOT of
extra toe nails to trim up!:) Pawzy was just a tiny little kitten covered in flea and so skinny. All she wanted to do is cuddle up and get warm. Which of course is not
how she stayed, but it was nice while it lasted. Now she is a full grown cat that is all about being independent. If she want attention she
comes to you, otherwise she sits on the back of the couch, or anywhere she feels like being.
O'Dee Ohh came into the household April of 2005, he is the only male family
member in the house, with the exception of my husband that is! He is my other
daughters' cat, she felt she needed a cat for herself:) She was able to go to the shelter and pick him
out. O'Dee made quite an impression on my daughter, so the next thing I know....home he came!! He is definitely the 'king of the castle' here at our house. He is a climber and very curious. Once in awhile we put a leash on
him and take him outside to explore. By far his favorite thing to do!! O'Dee
could spend hours on end just looking out the window. He also loves to sleep behind your legs and cuddle up in the blankets.
Since our adoptions of these cutie pies we have added 2 more cats to the mix. Lil' Miss Pygee was found by me at the industrial park at a
sweet 6 weeks old, September of 2005. She was so scared I couldn't bare to let her go anywhere but home. Then came Marshi Mellow, she is a
Bengal/white domestic mix
that came from a breeder that was trying to make a 'cheaper' cat with Bengal
temperament. Well when the business closed they were free!! My
husband felt bad for her because she was the only one left in the cage....so that was December of 2005. Every day is an adventure at my house with
these furry family members....4 cats and now.........4 dogs!!! Thanks P4P for all you do!!

Admittedly,
I am not a cat person! I have two beautiful black lab mixes that
are the love of my life, but one of them was a little aggressive toward
cats. It became difficult to visit friends and family with cats
because my oldest dog wanted to "play" with the kitties. So, I
went to People for Pets to adopt a kitten into my home!
Some would say that adding a little kitten to a house with two big dogs,
especially if one is aggressive toward cats, is a bit crazy, but I had
faith in my dogs. I knew that all they needed was the chance to
get to know the kitten. After a rough beginning, they see her as
their little sister.
Now,
two years later, my youngest dog, Portia, and she are best
friends. It is not uncommon to see Portia chasing Desi down the
hallway and out of sight, and then on the return trip, Desi is chasing
after Portia. The two roll around on the floor together and play
every day. Portia is very gentle with Desi, even when Desi attacks
her head.
My older dog, Ophelia, while not best friends with Desi, is quite
tolerant of her. The two dogs sleep in my bed with me, and Desi
often joins us. There have been times when I have rolled over to
see Desi curled up next to Ophelia. We have become one big, happy
family, and Desi has a special place in my dog-loving heart.
Thank you, People for Pets, for a great cat!
