On
February 10, 2007, we had to put our 13 year old beagle, Scooter, to
sleep. He was a wonderful dog and we really missed him. However, by
the end of April we were wanting to fill an empty place in our home.
While searching the internet for beagle puppies, I came across the ad
for Sadie Sue, a 4 month old beagle, who had the cutest face you could
ever imagine! We fell in love with her just from the pictures we saw.
On May 5, 2007, my husband and I drove from Buffalo, MN, to Spencer,
IA, to pick up our new puppy. Believe me we had some apprehension about
getting a new puppy. What was it going to be like again after 13 years?
What if the puppy didn’t like us or we didn’t like her?
Well, when we arrived in Spencer, IA, at People for Pets, and we took one look at
Sadie, we fell in love! She was prettier than the
pictures we saw on
the internet. She has brought so much enjoyment and laughter to our
lives, along with some frustration – she has only chewed on one pair of
my shoes and is pretty well potty-trained. There is nothing better
than coming home from a tough day at work and having her run up to greet
you with her bubbly personality! Sadie is now almost 9 months old and
we are so thankful that we were the family chosen to adopt her. She has
made our family complete!
Thank you Donna and People for Pets!

Bella came into my
life when I decided that my bulldog “Winston” and I were ready for another addition to our family. Hence the search
for another pal. I had decided that I wanted to adopt a dog from a local shelter and give a dog a chance to have a great life. So I was
just ecstatic when I saw Bella’s picture on this website. A few weeks later Bella was riding home with me to her new home and family.
Bella had quite a few new things to learn and adapt to. She was a real trooper. She learned her house training very quickly. She
also figured the couch was the best place for her in a matter of days. Bella really didn’t care too much for Winston at first and in fact
was quite jealous of any time he spent with me. Winston won her over as he is a patient little gentleman and now they are the best of
friends. She is also very adamant about keeping his face clean.
Her next favorite place to sit is under the table by our feet
and she doesn’t mind at all sharing her space with my grandson Cooper.
Bella loves to go on walks and of course everyone she meets just can’t get over how beautiful she is. She leaned her manners on the
leash in a short time also. Maybe I am biased but I think she is very intelligent and intuitive. Bella goes out to the family farm and
most any event that dogs are welcome such as soccer, football and baseball games. She is a big hit wherever she goes.
The biggest change I have seen in Bella is that she just smiles. She is so happy that at times it seems she can hardly contain that
happiness. It seems she is saying, “I have a family, I am a house dog and I can hardly believe that this is my life!”

I share this quote with you.
“He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will
be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.”
Thank you for allowing me to adopt such a faithful friend.
